Spelling Assignment, Week of April 27, 2015
If you did not turn in your first set of lists, you need to make that up this week.
You will be making a book of the fifteen most important spelling rules for fourth graders.
Think of the spelling lists you have learned this year. Each day you will write one rule you think fourth graders need to remember when they are spelling and make a list of 20 words to go with this rule.
Here are some of the rules we have covered this year:
words with short a, short e, short i, short o, short u, ways to spell words with long a, long e, long i, long o, long u, ways to spell ough words, ways to spell words when you add the suffix –s or –es, ways to spell words when you add the suffix –ed and –ing, ways to spell homophones, ways to spell words with au, aw, ou, ow, oi, and oy, ways to spell words with ar,or, ir, er, ur, ways to spell words with kn, gn, mb, and wr.
You could also have a list of compound words, contractions, commonly misspelled words, and abbreviations.
To make an A, make sure all your words are at least fourth grade level and spelled correctly. You should write these in print.
